Backfilling of joints with impact profiles
Impact profiles are joint fillers or joint profiles suitable for backfilling deep expansion and connecting joints. They come in different shapes but round profiles are the most common type.
Impact profiles are used for restricting the depth in joints, obtaining an effective abutment. Advantages: the joint becomes more stable and crack formation is prevented. Consequently, less sealing material is needed for sealing the joint afterwards.
The WEBAC® Impact Profile is characterized by its smooth surface texture and its grayish black color. It is round in shape and available in the following diameters:
- 30 mm
- 40 mm
The profiles consist of ethylene propylene diene monomer foam which is why they are often also referred to as EPDM impact profiles.
Notes on the installation of impact profiles
Impact profiles are installed by hand or using a special chisel hammer. Any existing material must be thoroughly removed from the joint before the installation to ensure watertightness of the joint filler material. A chisel hammer can be used for this purpose. The profile size should exceed the joint width by approx. 30 %.
